Madrid, Feb 13 (EFE) .- The prices in Spain fell 1.3% in January, slumped by cheap oil, which is the biggest drop since July 2007, according to published today the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
The Consumer Price Index (CPI), which improves tenth advance over the figure last 30 January (-1.4%), exacerbated the decline in the last seven months.
This is the first decline recorded in January historical series of INE, which began in 1960.
The sector that most influenced this drop was the transport, where prices fell 7.7% due to cheaper fuels and lubricants.
Regarding the Harmonised Index, which measures changes in prices by the same method in all countries in the area of Euro leading indicator shows a decline of 1.5% in January, four tenths worse than the decline the previous month. EFE
