Europe hopes the proposals of Greece – FORTUNE

MEXICO CITY (CNNExpansión) – The group of finance ministers of the euro area will have a conference call on Wednesday to discuss a medium-term loan is expected to Greece asked the European Stability Mechanism, the group’s president Jeroen Dijsselbloem said.

He said it was not possible to have the discussion at the meeting on Tuesday in Brussels and the Eurogroup is waiting for another letter from the Greek Government with a clear set of proposals.

“After the delivery of the proposal, the president of the Eurogroup will ask the institutions (the European Commission, the European Central Bank and the IMF) to analyze the financing needs of Greece and its debt,” he said Eurogroup said in a statement.

“After analysis, the Eurogroup will decide when it will start negotiations,” he added.

Meanwhile, Greek government source told AFP that Greece made “improvements” to its proposals last week to reach an agreement with its European creditors.

This proposed “improvements” regarding the filed June 30, includes “reforms, financing needs and debt repayment,” the source said.

The Greek prime minister, Alexis Tsipras, seeks to persuade its creditors to resume negotiations on financing before the country runs out of cash.

In a scenario in which the Greeks run out of money lenders and the Greek Central Bank is forced to print its own currency could mean the departure of a country from the euro zone for the first time since currency launched in 1999, it will create a precedent and raise doubts about the viability of the monetary union in the long term.
