Obama discussed the crisis in Greece and Merkel Tsipras – El Diario de Yucatan

         


     

WASHINGTON (Notimex) .- US President Barack Obama said today the prime minister of Greece, Alexis Tsipras, its expectation of reaching an early agreement with the euro zone, to prevent his forced departure from the area.

The White House said Obama Tsipras made aware ‘of their ideas’ to reach an agreement with its creditors, during a telephone conversation held both morning Tuesday.

‘ The President (Obama) reiterated its position that it is in everyone’s interest that Greece and its creditors reach a mutually acceptable agreement, “the White House said in a statement.

Meanwhile, presidential spokesman Josh Earnest said the only way is that all parties agree on a package of reforms and funding to put Greece on track to stabilize its economy and return to growth.

“That’s not to say it will be much easier to implement as articulate. It is complicated, but we continue to believe that everyone at the table know that it is in their collective interest that it be resolved that way, “Earnest told reporters.

On Sunday, more than 61 percent of Greeks rejected by referendum the austerity demands of the European Commission, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund in exchange for financial aid that Greece needs.

The Greeks spoke ade spoke well by agreement with more flexible terms and the cancellation of part of the debt.

However, the new Greek Finance Minister Euclides Tsakalotos, came without a formal agreement to his first meeting with the negotiators, offering their presentation for tomorrow Wednesday.

Separately, Obama spoke with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, according to the White House, both recognized the interest of all parties to reach an early agreement .
