MADRID (Reuters) – The number of bankrupt debtors fell by 17.4 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of 2016, reported Monday the National Statistics Institute (INE), in a new sign of recovery of an indicator that is fired in the heat of the economic crisis, and strongly marked by the bursting of the housing bubble.
In this way, the number of bankrupt debtors stood at 995 in the period, the greater part of them (937) voluntary, according to data published by the INE.
By economic activity, are among the companies declared bankrupt, the commercial sector and construction, which account for 22.1 per cent and 14.9 per cent of the total, respectively.

From a geographic point of view, the Spanish autonomous communities of catalonia and madrid account for 40.8 percent of all bankrupt debtors in the country during the third quarter of this year.
The largest decrease in the number of contests held, in particular, of a 83.3 per cent, were located in the Principality of Asturias, while Aragon experienced the highest growth of 15.2 percent.
