Continued advancement of fiber optics in February – Yahoo Finance Spain

MADRID (Reuters) – Broadband grew again in Spain in February driven by fiber optics, now exceeding 3.4 million lines , according to data released Friday by the National Commission Markets and Competition (CNMC).

The optical fiber lines totaled 157,116 in February, of which 69.3 percent are Movistar, while DSL lines fell by 146,449.

For operators, Vodafone ( including Ono) and Orange (including Jazztel) won lines, while Movistar declined slightly to lower its fixed broadband park. Among the three control 95 percent of the market.

As for mobile telephony, the number of lines fell 60,742 in February, as the rise in postpaid (84,525) did not offset the drop in prepayment (145,267). In total, there are over 50.6 million mobile lines in Spain

Movistar (70,830) and Yoigo (30,880) were the operators lost more telephone lines in February
