Volkswagen has one month to submit emissions plan – Terra Peru

Volkswagen and government regulators must submit within a month a detailed plan for 600,000 diesel vehicles comply with clean air laws plan. Otherwise the automaker would face a demand in the coming months scandal resulting emissions, said a federal judge Thursday.

judge Charles Breyer said he wants to know the terms of the plan and payments are expected to homeowners, among other details, before 21 April. “I hope that the 21 are resolved as many outstanding issues,” said Breyer.

According to the judge, former FBI Director Robert Mueller said that Volkswagen, government regulators and lawyers representing owners moved in drafting a resolution to remove contaminants cars streets. He did not elaborate. Breyer Mueller appointed to oversee the negotiations.

The parties could not immediately announce a solution because it lacked resolve technical issues and other important matters, he added.

Volkswagen acknowledged in September that intentionally taunted testing vehicles with emissions and polluting engines put on the streets. Special software allowed the cars pass emissions tests while harmful nitrogen oxide emitted at a level 40 times above the allowed on the streets.

The Justice Department sued Volkswagen on behalf of the Environmental Protection Agency. The owners also began a furious demand for the company repurchased their vehicles. Breyer understood in both cases.
