Austria and the Czech Republic monitor border with Germany – Deutsche Welle

Austria and the Czech Republic have strengthened today (22/07/2016) surveillance with police patrols along its borders with Germany after the shootout in a shopping center in Munich in which at least eight people died.

the Czech Interior Minister Milan Chovanec, announced on public television of his country, CT, who had decided extreme border surveillance “especially for the eventual case that one of the attackers try to flee Germany”. increased police presence was also ordered in many malls in the country, he added.

In addition, Austria “has raised security measures” on the borders with the neighboring German Bavaria and throughout the country, he said to Austrian public television ORF General Director of public Security, Konrad Kogler.

“to the team of counter-terrorism unit ‘Cobra’, so we are fully able to react I was alerted” and special measures especially were taken in the provinces of the north, bordering with Germany, said Kogler.
