Ford Motor Company announces alliance with Jose Cuervo, to explore the use of the product of the agave plant in order to develop more sustainable bioplastics for use in cars Ford.
Initial assessments this alliance, indicate that this material is very promising because of its durability and aesthetic qualities, which is intended for use in indoor and outdoor components Fords, such as wire harnesses, air conditioning units and magazines storage.

the process begins with the growth cycle of the agave plant, which is at least seven years. Once harvested and before milling, the heart of the plant is fired to proceed with the extraction of juice for distillation. Jose Cuervo uses a portion of the fibers remaining agave as fertilizer for their farms, besides being given to local artisans to make crafts and paper agave with these wastes.
Now, as part of the plan Jose Cuervo most ambitious sustainability, the manufacturer and distributor of tequila, joins Ford to develop new and bigger ways to use the remaining fibers.
