Spain receives 5.9% more tourists – The País.com (Spain)

Spain exceeded 36.3 million foreign tourists until July, which is a 7% increase over the same period last year, according to the Survey of Tourist Movement Frontera (Frontur) broadcast Friday by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism. The figure for 2014 is over 34 million a year ago, when records were labeled.

In fact, in July the international tourist arrivals grew by 5.9%, to 8, . 3 million, this being the second best figure in history, surpassed only by August 2013, moved on Thursday the Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism, José Manuel Soria

As of July almost all major emitting countries contributed to this growth, including the UK, Germany and especially France, which contributed more than half a million additional tourists.

So, a month UK stood as the market’s relevant with 23.3% of all entries, up to 8.4 million visitors and an increase of 5.5%.

Germany, was the second market that contributed more to the growth of non-residents total, about 5.8 million tourists and an increase of 6.6%, followed by France, with over 5.6 million visitors, an increase of 10.8%.

Nordic countries, the fourth largest market, increased 7.8% in the first seven months of 2014, like the Netherlands, which grew 4.9%.

Also noteworthy increases in market Belgium, which rose 19%, the largest increase; Italy, with an increase of 13%, and the Swiss market, which achieved a growth of 10.7%.

In contrast, the Russian market fell by 3.8%, with 806,843 tourists until July due to the devaluation of the ruble. In July alone, the decline was 2.1%, as announced Soria.



Catalonia, visitors head

Among the autonomous communities, Catalonia, with increase of 5.7%, captured the highest percentage of foreign visitors, with the arrival of 9.2 million, 25.6% of the total, followed by Canary, an increase of 11.8% and 18% of total arrivals, to 6.5 million.

Balearic Behind them stood third source market, with 6.2 million tourists, managed to rebound by 0.8% leaving the decreases in recent six months. Followed Andalusia, with over 4.7 million tourists, 13.2% of the total, registering a rise of 8.7%.

Meanwhile, Valencia recorded an increase from 4 , 3% to over 3.4 million tourists, with 9.6% of total arrivals, like the Community of Madrid, which increased by 7.6% to 2.6 million tourists, 7 , 3% of the total.
