Greek parliament approves third save [VIDEO] – Trade

The Greek parliament on Friday approved the third bailout of the country , with the opposing vote of many Members of Syriza, the party of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, before passing the test Eurogroup countries, particularly Germany.

The legal text of 400 pages, a drastic austerity plan, combining fiscal measures and structural reforms, won 222 votes in favor , 64 against and 11 abstentions.

It was approved with the votes of the opposition and, again, Tsipras failed in the attempt to obtain the votes of all Syriza MPs .

According to unofficial estimates, about 47 149 Syriza MPs, including former Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis, the President of Parliament and other party leaders refused to support the three-year agreement reached with the creditors.

According to this calculation, 32 deputies voted against, 11 abstained, three voted text in general but opposed certain items and one was absent.

This is an internal setback for Tsipras who said there was “no alternative” to that agreement allowing ” survival of the country and keep fighting. “

The vote was scheduled for Thursday night, but finally took place at 0700 GMT after nearly 24 hours of debate in committee without interruption and in plenary.

The delay was due in large part to the parliamentary guerrilla of the president of parliament, Zoe Constantopoulou, radically opposed to the agreement with creditors, calling it unconstitutional.

“is being sold every corner and all the beauty of Greece,” said Contantopoulou.
“The government is giving the keys to the troika, together with sovereignty and national assets” , he added, referring to the country’s creditors, namely the European Union, the European Central Bank ( ECB), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the European Stability Mechanism (ESM).

Constantopoulou announced that no “more support” to a prime minister who “joined the cohort of his predecessors who accepted the memorandum, throwing his comrades to the dogs “.

The finance ministers of the euro zone must now give political agreement to the new rescue 85,000 million euros.

Greece hopes with this new plan the disbursement of 20,000 million euros in the coming days .

However, the influential German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble said he had “questions to ask” and favored a simple “bridge loan” so that Greece can meet a payment of 3,200 million to study according to time and, above all, to impose additional conditions.

Before the vote, Alexis Tsipras warned against the alternative of a bridge loan, if not You agreed to an aid plan.

A bridge loan as suggested by Germany would be a “return to an endless crisis,” he said.

“It’s what some seek systematically and we have a responsibility to prevent, not facilitate, “Tsipras said.

Germany argues that it is necessary to obtain further details on the Greek authorities before taking the yes to the agreement.

The prime minister also called on other EU countries who reject this option, it believes that only prolong the “agony” of Greece.
