EconomíaHoy.mx / Europa Press – 5:37 – 22/09/2016

Volkswagen has committed itself to developing an action plan “comprehensive and transparent” with a calendar “clearly defined” to inform customers about the repair of the vehicles affected by the scandal of manipulation of emission and the process that will be conducted in each member State, as reported by the European Commission.

The plan has been qualified by the european authorities as “an important step” to ensure that affected customers receive a fair deal. However, the reality is that Volkswagen has returned to get away with it and be able to overcome the financial compensation claimed by the european customers, something that yes has been made in the united States. A request to which Volkswagen has always been reluctant, claiming since it is not economically viable to compensate for the 8.5 million people affected in Europe up to that “no need” to do so.

Vera Jourova, the european commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality said that “Volkswagen has been committed to a comprehensive action plan for the European Union, which is an important step towards the fair treatment of customers. Will monitor this commitment and I will continue to work with consumer organisations, authorities and Volkswagen”, has expressed the commissioner Czech.

The spokesman community Christian Wigand has been pointed out that Jourova has had a meeting with Francisco Javier García Sanz, member of the Board of Directors of the German company, which has emphasised the need for a “fair deal” for the european customers affected, with “total respect” to the european legislation on the matter.

Plan “comprehensive and transparent”

Wigand stressed that both parties are in agreement that all vehicles affected by the scandal of the manipulation of emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) should be repaired and be in total compliance with the specific regulations.

In the same way, Volkswagen has offered an action plan “comprehensive and transparent” for all european consumers affected, including compliance testing. This plan of action, explained the spokesman, will be developed with a calendar defined and will include an explanation of the process in each country.

in Addition, the society automotive will inform customers before the end of this year and have repaired the vehicles involved in the fall of 2017.

For their part, some 1,400 investors showed yesterday claims for compensation for damages against Volkswagen for value of 8,200 million euros.
