Subaru thinks big with their new concept Viziv-7 – Digital Trends English (blog)

The edition 2016 of the Los Angeles Auto Show may well be remembered as "the year of the SUVs". Car manufacturers, from Alfa Romeo to Volkswagen, they are showing their new off-road light in the californian city, so that the last concept of Subaru is not alone.

The Subaru Viziv-7 is the latest product of the series Viziv (abbreviation of Vision for Innovation) that the japanese automaker has shown in recent years. It presents itself as an SUV of medium size, with seven seats arranged in three rows. Subaru plans to launch it in North America at the beginning of 2018, and what is true is that it seems exactly the type of vehicle that the US worships at these precise moments.

Watching the Viziv-7, you could say that someone put the Subaru Forester in a photocopying machine, and adjusted his magnification to 125 percent. Offers some style elements of the SUVs of traditional, such as a ceiling straight and square, which should give your interior a nice feeling and airy. The grille and headlights mimic other recent models of the production Subaru, although some design elements —like the Subaru badge, placed near the top of the grill— make the Viziv-7 seems a bit of a Toyota Highlander.

Subaru has not revealed yet nothing to the purpose of its propulsion system, although a concept of SUV presented the Tokyo Motor Show of 2015, made use of a hybrid system, with a four-cylinder 2.0-litre driving the front wheels, and an electric motor doing the same with the rear. It is possible that something as well used on the production model of the Viziv-7, although it is possible that a Subaru ignore the hybrid drive and then use any of their combustion engines existing.

The "invasion" of SUVs in this Car show Los Angeles 2016 is a sample of the excellent health enjoyed by off-road light on the market today. The japanese company has had success with the Forester, as well as others of its hatchbacks, and sedans, although the last SUV seven seats, the Tribeca, orilló the failure.

The new SUV will be larger than the Tribeca, and will be assembled in the u.s. factory in Lafayette, Indiana. Unlike the Tribeca —named for the district of New York— Subaru has said that "it will take a name that evokes outdoor adventure", similar to the case of the Forester, Outback, and Crosstrek. So it is not: it is very unlikely that they will call Subaru Williamsburg…
