Xiaomi does not earn ‘a penny’ with their phones – CNET in Spanish

The sales of the phones Xiaomi have fallen in recent times, but that’s not of great concern to the manufacturer in china.

“Basically, we’re giving [the phones] without winning money,” said Hugo Barra, global vice president of Xiaomi, in an interview with Reuters. “We could sell 10,000 millions of phones and not get a single penny”.

But the business of Xiaomi is not only selling hardware, as explained Bar to Reuters, but the steady input of income through their services for many years. The company also expects to see growth in its revenue driven by the sale of devices for the smart home and by the sale of software.

Xiaomi did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Xiaomi has already made investments in countries of Asia and India, and is now working to be able to sell directly to consumers in the united States, said Bar. The strategy of the manufacturer in china is to sell its products through its own website.

Xiaomi has planned to present a new product at CES 2017 in January in Las Vegas, which would be his first foray into such a technology conference. Have not given many details of the matter, and it is possible that the product is not a phone. Xiaomi sells electronics of any kind — including phones, monitors, activity, bicycle, electric, automatic vacuum cleaners, among many more. In addition, it is known for providing good products at lower prices than the competition.
