Monthly inflation, as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 0.68% in March 2015.
This was announced by the Central Bank of Honduras (BCH), which is explained partly by the price increase in the supply of electricity at home ; transport (by the rise in fuel prices) and foodstuffs.
Meanwhile, annual inflation stood at 3.74% and 0.93% cumulative.
total of 282 goods and services that make up the CPI basket, from 68.44% recorded an increase in price 7.09% and 24.47% reduction denoted no modification introduced last month.
The items that most impact on the monthly CPI were: Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, with 0.19 percentage points (pp); Food and non-alcoholic beverages, with 0.18 points; Transportation, with 0.17 points; Furniture and items for household maintenance, with 0.05 points and Clothing and footwear, with 0.04 points.
The price index of Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels introduced a monthly growth of 0.94%, linked mainly to the rise in the price of a kilowatt hour of electricity consumed in the housing (higher fuel adjustment compared to February 2015), as well as the increase in the price of kerosene (7.17% ) and liquid gas LPG (4.65%).
The BCH estimates that inflation will range between 5.5% and 6.5% in 2015.
