Spain received record 10.6 million tourists until March, a … – Terra Colombia

Spain received a record 10.6 million foreign tourists in the first quarter of 2015, up 5.3% over the same period of 2014, according to data released today by the Ministry of Industry.

The British and Asian markets were the largest growth in absolute terms, while in relative terms highlighted the annual increases in visitors from Italy (16.9%), Ireland (13.5%), Switzerland (12.6%) and the US (12%).

The UK sent more than 2.1 million tourists between January and March, an increase of 9.5%, followed by Germany, with 1.65 million arrivals, 1.2% more.

However, the Russian market continued to decline and recorded a 24.9% lower than a year earlier arrivals.

In March Spain reached 4.2 million international tourists, 6.7% more than the same month last year.

As destinations, highlights the annual increase that registered the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean, with 24.2% more tourists, and Andalusia (south), an increase of 14.2%.
