The US economy showed new signs of moderation, adding only 126,000 new workers in March. It is the pace of job creation lowest since December 2013 and is half that seen in the previous 12 months. The unemployment rate held steady at 5.5%. The weakness of the indicator could lead the Federal Reserve to postpone the rise in interest rates.
The first reading of data is far below what Wall Street expected. The market consensus anticipated the creation of 243,000 jobs in March.
