Job creation slows in US – LaRepública.pe

El País

The US economy showed new signs of moderation, adding only 126,000 new workers in March. It is the pace of job creation lowest since December 2013 and is half that seen in the previous 12 months. The unemployment rate held steady at 5.5%. The weakness of the indicator could lead the Federal Reserve to postpone the rise in interest rates.

The first reading of data is far below what Wall Street expected. The market consensus anticipated the creation of 243,000 jobs in March. It was not the only bad news in the report of the Department of Commerce. In addition, revised downwards preceding two months. The February figure is now occupied 264,000, compared with 295,000 who took a month, while January goes from 239,000 to 201,000 jobs.

moderation was expected, but not as sharp as that goes in the statistics. United States is a year proving that it was a machine to create jobs, to register more than 200,000 occupied a month since March 2014. For two decades that a sequence is not chained so, now broken. The March figure is still subject to two revisions.
