MEPs defined lines FTA – Prensa Latina

EP (view full) April 4, 2015, 9:51 Brussels, April 4 (PL) The European Parliament today made clear their lines as to the negotiations on the FTA (TTIP, English acronym) between the European Union (EU) and the United States.

 A report of that body on Saturday said that because red lines show affection to employment and transparency exists the possibility that the Parliament, with veto power, could reject the deal.

MEPs left clear recommendations for the EU executive in negotiations with the United States, so complicated that the European Commission (EC) questions feasible conclusion in late 2015, as planned.

One of the packages was key recommendations the approved this week by the Committee on Employment in the European Parliament.

This portfolio includes a request that European labor standards and public employment in the 28 countries of the group do not suffer any alteration after the economic opening United States.

MEPs said the TTIP should ensure that not a single job is lost, and march on the path of growth and quality employment.

For others, must be enforceable minimum standards established in the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the institution sought to arbitrate any dispute.

The EC and Washington are betting that this treaty will be a tool economic growth and job creation without additional government spending and debt.

The Centre for Economic Policy Research in London, said potential benefits of this agreement for trade and investment, with 119 billion of euros for the European Union, 90 billion to the US and 100 billion to the world.
