ABC of Spain 2 / The debt of Spanish households stood at 742.441 million euros in February, representing a fall of 4.1% compared to the same month last year (774,644). Thus, financial household debt remains at its lowest level since September 2006, when it stood at 741,331,000.
According to data released Wednesday by the Bank of Spain, in February the decline was 0.4% compared to the previous month. Thus, the household debt accumulates 17 months below the 800,000 million euros. Meanwhile, credit for house purchases accounted 581,647,000 euros in February, 4% lower than a year earlier.
With this figure, this type of lending is at the lowest level since January 2007, when totaled 579,979,000. Moreover, loans to non-financial companies stood at 935.228 million euros, compared with 986,075,000 in the same period last year (-5.1%).
