Reuters – 12:36 – 02/23/2016

Consumer confidence in the US declined in February, affected by the recent volatility in the stock market, according to the index released by the organization the Conference Board analysis today.

in a statement, the agency said that confidence declined in February to settle at 92.2 units, from 97.8 points in January before when there was a slight increase.

Lynn Franco, director of economic indicators the Conference Board said that consumer evaluations of current economic conditions had deteriorated in the second month of the year. The short-term prospects also are now more pessimistic than in January, and consumers are more apprehensive about the conditions shown to do business, your personal financial situation and, to a lesser extent, the labor market.

“the continued turmoil in financial markets could be affecting consumers, but their assessments of current conditions suggest that the economy will continue to expand at a moderate pace in the near term,” he said Franco.
