history of the National Lottery for Public Assistance, also known as Lotenal, dates back to the Colonial era when Mexico was still known as a New Spain.
In 1770 he established the Royal Lottery of New Spain and gave the first drawing, whose economic contribution he gave to the public welfare. Gradually these contests were very successful and were promoted raffles and other lotteries to raise funds for various public and private projects.

In August of 1920, a presidential decree established the official name: National Lottery for Public Assistance, whose purpose is to raise funds and that these are intended for public works.
for more than 240 years, the Lottery has launched a special sweepstakes, including the giveaway of Christmas, better known as the Fat Christmas, where they distributed millions of pesos in this Sweepstakes Magno.
This sweepstakes, along with the New Year, is one of the most traditional of the Lotenal, with 215 issues so far.
This 2016 will be held on Sorte Gordo de Navidad at 20:00 hrs in the Salon of Drawings of the building of the Lotenal, located in Paseo de la Reforma.
This sweepstakes offers a first prize of 200 million pesos, where the total deal is of 397 million pesos in four series.
The cost of the fraction, or cachito is 100 pesos; while the cost of the series is 2000 pesos. The total cost of the four series is 8000 pesos.
