Initiative “Paper Zero”: hypermarkets can stop issuing invoices – Pysn Pueblo and Society News

Several chains of supermarkets are to replace the worth of shopping for the electronic bill, in an attempt to reduce costs and contribute to a more environmentally sustainable. The initiative of "zero" may be extended to several european countries.

According to the Spanish newspaper The Country, the supermarket chain Carrefour is going to take the first steps in Spain for the disposal of bills. The initiative will apply to all consumers who make purchases through the application ‘ My Carrefour" and choose the option "not to receive the invoice on paper." In this way, the vouchers and discount coupons of the mark will be automatically sent to the email of the consumer.

The Carrefour estimated that in total more than one million users can be covered by the measure, contributing to a reduction of almost 70% in the total amount of paper issued at the checkout. Currently the company manages in Spain, 175 hypermarkets Carrefour, 114 supermarkets Carrefour Market and 538 supermarkets Carrefour Express.

In December last year, the supermarket chain Lidl has announced its intention to stop printing invoices in the one hundred supermarkets that have in Switzerland.

The consumers ‘ association Spanish FACUA recalls, the Spanish daily, that this measure may only be applied by the companies if they have the approval of the buyer, and highlights the importance of the initiative saying that it will be more easy to find the ticket, in the event of a claim, avoiding losses on the part of consumers.

however, FACUA warns that there is still a large percentage of consumers who do not have access to the Internet, which can be an obstacle to the full implementation of the new system of bills.
