The tariff deficit Butane be absorbed before March and will foster a sequence of bimonthly downs

MADRID, 25 (EUROPA PRESS)

The average price of butane, 12.5 kilos, predictably lower by 5% in April and, if the current trend continues in the price of raw materials, register new downward revisions for the year to become cheaper by about 20% during the year to Europa Press on industry sources.

This trend implies that the cylinder exceed the legal limit of 17.5 euros in which it is found from March to 16.6 euros last year in April, that is, nearly a euro less, and then go searching different bimonthly discounts of 5%, falling to around 14 or 15 euros, provided that maintains the current scenario raw material costs.

The sources point out that, according to quarterly review mechanism launched this term, the cylinder has been revised downwards bimonthly in forks of up to 5% above or in line with movements cost of raw material, although there is a cap of 17.5 euros above which is not the price of the bottle is raised, but a tariff deficit that the sector is entitled to recover is generated.

In early 2014, the price was at the top of 17.5 euros and the tariff deficit was around 60 million. Since October of that year there was a shift in international prices, so that in March or April this year the tariff deficit will have reached zero and the Ministry of Industry will be able to revise downwards the final price.

When launched the mechanism, Industry originally intended to have frozen the maximum price to 2016 for better stability, but then agreed to forward this review to 2015. The collapse in oil prices has caused a shift in all the forecasts and the advancement of dates now plays for the consumer.

The sources claim that costs are falling “hill” and that the gas cylinder is about to enter a situation of surplus rate. There is only one element that hinders the rapid translation of falling costs, which is the devaluation of the euro, as markets and freight priced in dollars.

In times of increased tariff deficit Butane last year the actual cost of the cylinder was about 23 euros, while consumers bought 17.5 euros. Now the scenario is reversed and downs of almost every other month euro could occur without the operators suffer in the margin.

This price depression can encourage competition in a sector in which the main Industry operators are demanding effective liberalization. Bottles of less than 9 kilos and have free price and can be sold wherever they want companies.

FALL OF DEMAND IN 2014.

According to the data handled by the sector, Butane demand for packaging closed the year 2014 with a fall of 7.5%, or 70,000 tonnes, due to the crisis, at higher temperatures and consumers that have replaced the fuel for another as natural gas or electricity.

The total consumption of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) fell 8.5% in the year, or 130,000 tons, after it has fallen not only the demand for butane, but also of Bulk and piped gas, 15% and 20%, respectively.

The sole focus of activity recorded growth in demand is the autogas, with increases of 20%. In this new use of LPG, the sector has proposed redouble efforts for society to know this motor fuel, cheaper, efficient and environmentally friendly
