Athens promised reforms and the EU will send funds – lanacion.com (Argentina)

PARIS (From our correspondent) .- On the brink of financial suffocation, Alexis Tsipras Greek government pledged yesterday to present their European partners a “complete list of reforms”. Thus, Athens will get the money to avoid a default and may decide on the pace of change.

The decision was announced at dawn yesterday after grueling hours of negotiations in Brussels between Tsipras and the European Union (EU).

Greece, which must face a range of maturities in the coming days, will run out of cash in early April if their institutional creditors (the IMF, the European Commission and the European Central Bank) not quickly unlocked the 7,000 million euros of the final installment of the current bailout plan.

The EU also yesterday put two billion euros of unused EU funds available to Athens, for strengthen government efforts in favor of growth and social cohesion.

According to a study by the German foundation Hans Bockler, the richest 10% of the more modest Greek households fell 86% between 2008 and 2012 .

“There is no problem in the short-term liquidity. We will fulfill our commitments to the Greek people, but also with creditors. [...] It is clear that Greece will not apply recessionary measures “.
