Spain received in the first two months of the year about 6.5 million tourists, a new historical record and 4.5 percent more than in the same period of 2014, according to figures released by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Spanish Tourism.
Only in February 2015, came to Spain 3.3 million foreign tourists, 5.3 percent more than during the same month last year.
UK was the main source market, with 1.2 million tourists, up 2.7 percent from a year earlier, followed by France, with one million, 2.1 percent, and Germany with 972,455 , 3.4 percent.
Between January and February highlighted the increase of 20.4 percent of Italy, which was ranked as the sixth source market, and 18.7 percent of United States.
By contrast, the Nordic countries fell 6.1 percent, 3.3 percent Netherlands, and Russia, which continues to decline, with 20.2 percent less.
The main destination, in absolute terms, was the Canary Islands (Atlantic), with over 2 million, followed by Catalonia (northeast), with 1.6 million and Andalusia (south), with 787,101 tourists.
