ATHENS (Reuters) – The European Central Bank raised the limit for emergency liquidity assistance (ELA, for its acronym in English) that Greek banks can withdraw the central bank, to something above 71,000 million 69,800 million euros from previously said a bank source told Reuters on Wednesday.
“The roof of the ELA was increased to slightly above 71,000 million euros,” the source said.
The ECB raised the limit in steps, small steps that maintain pressure on Athens to reach an agreement with its creditors.
