Ryanair profit jumped 66% in fiscal year 2014/15 – The Economist

The Irish low-cost airline Ryanair announced an increase in its net profit by 66% in the year ended March 31, thanks to its policy of improving its services, and expects a further increase this year.

The Irish low-cost airline Ryanair announced Tuesday an increase in its net profit by 66% in the year ended March 31, thanks to its policy of improving its services, and expects a further increase this year.

The net profit of the company was established in 866.7 million euros in the 2014/2015 financial year, when a year earlier was 522.8 million.

The result slightly improved its latest forecasts, which ranged between 840 and 850 million.

The number of passengers increased by 11%, totaling 90.6 million customers, and turnover 12%, to 5.654 million euros.

According to CEO, Michael O’Leary, improving passenger services “has attracted millions of Ryanair customers.”

Since 2013, the airline tries to correct his image, allowing for example to free the passengers in the cabin one seconds baggage of small dimensions, without additional costs or attributing a seat number.

For the year 2015/16, Ryanair expects increased its profit by 10%, to be established within a range of between 940 and 970 million euros.
