France: Enters into force the right to disconnect outside of work hours – Teletrece

Since January 1 in France comes in force the right to disconnect outside of the hours of work, this means that the e-mails, whatsapp, calls or any message related to the employment and that are received on days off need not be replied to.

called “The law Khomri”, by the surname of the minister of Labor who introduced the initiative, Myriam El Khomri, provides that the workers of the businesses with more than 50 workers should come to an agreement with the company to limit the use of the technology related to the work outside of the office.

the purpose of the rule is to finish with the stress derived from excess work. “Employees leave the physical office, but do not leave their job. the Remain united by a kind of belt electronics, as a dog,” said Benoît Hamon, member socialist of Parliament and former minister of French Education to the BBC.

“All the studies show that there is many more problems arising from work-related stress than there used to be, and it is a constant stress,” said Hamon.

The foregoing does not mean that you leave work can’t answer calls, but opens the possibility that workers and employers agreed upon what they believe is best for both of you. So, you want to avoid the work stress constant and the reduced family life or recreation that people have.

Companies as Orange have already implemented reforms, in fact, the telecommunications company wants their workers to establish time periods in which you do not use the messaging or the phone.

tire manufacturer Michelin has also established “a connection control at a distance” to their managers who work with itinerant between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. on weekdays, and on weekends from 9 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Monday.

let’s Remember that this is the same labour market reform that has led to the workers to manifest in the streets, increasing the flexibility of employment and change some rules on collective bargaining.
