The office of the Prosecutor of the Supreme investigates the recent rise in the price of the light – Investing.com Spain

MADRID (Reuters) – The Prosecution of Civil cases of the Supreme Court has opened proceedings in order to find out the reasons that are leading to price increases that have recently experienced the receipts of the light, said Friday the State Attorney General’s office in a press note.

he Added that the proceedings are carried out for the defence of the rights of consumers.

The announcement of the Prosecutor’s office came two days after the wholesale price of electricity in Spain will be a maximum of 92,60 euro per megawatt/hour.

The strong increase in the price of the light has also provoked the intervention of the minister of Energy, Alvaro Nadal, who announced on Thursday that the government would implement changes in the system of formation of prices of the gas market to try to contain the increase.

last month, also the National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC) has already indicated that it was investigating the “disturbing” rise in the wholesale price of electricity during the month of December, when the price per megawatio/hour was increased from 40 to 60 euros.

this is Not the first time that the prices of the so-called “pool” electric are the subject of investigations. A sudden change of prices by the end of 2013 ended with the previous regulated rate of light, in which the wholesale prices are set on a quarterly basis through an auction.

And two years later, the CNMC imposed a fine of 25 million euros to the filial generation of Iberdrola (MK:) for manipulating the price of electrical energy in this month of December 2013.
