Washington, Oct. 11 (Thomson Financial) .- The director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Christine Lagarde, today urged the international community to “eradicate” ebola not “isolate” the countries most affected by the virus.

If more resources are needed to halt the outbreak in West Africa “we’ll be there,” said Lagarde at the press conference closing the annual meeting of the IMF in Washington.

The IMF has already disbursed earlier this month $ 130 million in emergency financial assistance for African countries affected by the disease, which have joined the $ 400 million committed by the World Bank. MarketWatch
