EU economy grew at the end of 2014 – Azteca News

Brussels, Bélgica.-La economy of the European Union rose 0.4 percent in the last quarter of 2014 compared to the previous three months, while that of the euro area improved 0.3 percent , reported the EU statistics office, Eurostat.

In both groups of countries progress in this period was stronger than that recorded in the previous quarter percentage point.

A level annual Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the 28 EU Member States rose 1.3 percent and monetary union 0.9 percent, results also a percentage point better than the third quarter of 2014 for the two groups of countries .

The main increases in GDP were observed in Estonia and Sweden (1.1 percent), followed by Hungary (0.8), and Spain, Germany and Poland (0.7 percent). The economy contracted only four of the 28 countries of the European Union (EU): Cyprus (0.7 percent), Greece (0.4), and Austria and Finland (0.2)

Among the main economies EU, GDP was unchanged in Italy and improved 0.1 percent in France, 0.2 in Belgium and 0.5 percent in the UK and the Netherlands.
