ATHENS (Reuters) – Greece’s membership in the euro zone is assumed and not part of the negotiations with the country’s creditors, the finance ministry said Sunday
The ministry sought to clarify statements of Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis in an interview published Sunday by the Italian daily Corriere della Sera.
“In the interview with Corriere della Sera, the minister reiterated the same position, stressing that the position of Greece in the euro zone is assumed and not part of any way the Government’s reform program that Greece is working in coordination with its partners and institutions, “the ministry said.
The company added that the Minister was asked what he would do if all proposals were rejected and replied, “As the Prime Minister has said, we’re not glued to our seats. If necessary, if we find an implacable position, we will resort to the Greek people either through elections or a referendum “on the content of reforms and fiscal policy.
