Telefónica expand capital mdd 3200 – The Economist

The Spanish group Telefónica will hire up to nine banks to conduct a capital increase by 3,200 million to finance the purchase of the Brazilian operator GVT.

The Spanish group Telefonica hire the services of up to nine banks to coordinate and direct a capital of 3,000 million euros (3,200 million) to finance the purchase of the Brazilian operator GVT said Thursday a knowledgeable source the operation.

UBS, Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan would lead the operation, which could begin next week, the source said.

Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Barclays and HSBC are also working in the operation, as well as Spanish banks BBVA, CaixaBank and Santander, the source added.

The banks would not comment on this information or were not available for comment.

The Spanish group agreed in September last year buying French operator GVT to Vivendi for 7,450 million euros.
