The Spanish trade deficit falls 10.1% until April – holaciudad.com, Fresno

The Spanish trade deficit fell 10.1% in the first four months of the year compared to the same period of 2014 and totaled 7.777 million euros (8.840 billion dollars), said the Ministry of Economy of Spain.

This decline was due to the pull of exports reached the highest figure between January and April of historical series, which began in 1971.

Foreign sales amounted to 81.891 million euros to April and rose 4.9% over the same period of 2014, while imports amounted to 89.668 million and were up 3.4%.

The energy deficit decreased 34.8 % thanks to lower energy prices.

The growth rate of exports was higher than that of the European Union, the euro zone and major European partners, such as Italy, France and the UK.

Exports to the EU accounted for 65% of the total and grew by 6.9% and those to the euro area accounted for 50.8% of the total and increased . 6%

Exports grew mainly to Germany, 8.1%; France, 4.6%; Italy, 13.1%, and the United Kingdom, 12.5%.

The most dynamic sectors were the automobile, which increased sales by 19.4% and accounted for 16, 9% of total foreign sales, and consumption of manufactured goods, which increased its exports by 9.5% and accounted for 9.6% of the total.

With regard to imports, driven by improved industrial activity and the strengthening of consumer goods highlights the sector which grew by 15.3%, and automotive, with an increase of 20%.
