Cuba Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz Vicegobernante visit Madrid – El Nuevo Herald

The Spanish Economy Minister Luis de Guindos, met Friday with Cuban vicegobernante, Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, to “give an impetus” to “traditional good relations” between the two countries.

Ricardo Cabrisas made a stopover in Madrid after a stay in Angola and before continuing path towards Cuba, the Cuban embassy said.

This visit comes in the context of rapprochement between the US and Cuba, under a month after both countries formally reestablished on July diplomatic relations, broken since 1961.

Spain, whose conservative government was criticized for his caution on bringing the Cuban regime, expected also take advantage of the opening of Cuba.

Thus, Havana sent a large delegation of businessmen earlier this month, led by Minister of Industry and Tourism, José Manuel Soria.

Cuba and the European Union are engaged since 2014 in negotiations to normalize relations, a dialogue that Madrid wants to boost after US forestall him.
