Falls ten percent the number of detected counterfeit euro – Deutsche Welle

The number of counterfeit euro banknotes withdrawn from circulation by police, banks and shops worldwide was reduced by 10.5 percent during the first half of the year compared with the second half of 2014. This was reported Friday (17/07/2015), the European Central Bank (ECB), under which the number of withdrawn banknotes stood at 454,000, the second highest figure since the introduction of the euro but a significant improvement compared with the previous data.

“Given the growing number of real banknotes in circulation, more than 17,000 million in the first half of 2015, the proportion of counterfeits is still very low,” said the guardian of the euro in a statement.

The ECB has been launching new models from 2013 to hinder ticket forgeries. After renewing the five- and ten euros, will present on 25 November, 20. More than half of counterfeits recovered this year were of this denomination. (Dpa)
