The ‘low cost’ Balearic transported 1.89 million passengers until June
The airlines carried 1.89 million Balearic passengers in the first half of the year, representing an increase of 6.4 percent the same period last year, according to data released Friday by the General Department of Knowledge and Tourism Studies under the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism.
On the other hand, in the month of June was 714 966 passengers carried by these lines ‘low cost’, which implies an increase of 3.1 percent.
The data suggest that the Balearic Islands, Catalonia and Madrid were the destinations that most international arrivals accounted, in 66 percent of the total.
At the national level, the airlines carried 15.8 million passengers in the first half of the year, representing an increase of 10.3 percent over the same period last year, accounting for 49.1 percent of passenger traffic to or from Spain.
In contrast, the traditional companies moved more than 16.4 million travelers through June, 1.3 percent more than in the same period a year earlier, capturing 50.9 percent of passenger traffic in the first six months.
In June, the low cost airlines increased 8.8 percent of their travelers to over 3.7 million passengers, 50.8 percent of the total air traffic of the month, which rose globally.
MARKET
By markets, the UK and Italy lead the inputs of low cost airlines until June, with 35.4% and 12.1% of passengers who chose this road, respectively, increases of 4.4 % for the UK market (5.6 million passengers), and 19.1% in the Italian market (1.9 million passengers).
Germany, third largest emitter, increased by 12 , 6% arrivals to 1.9 million passengers, equivalent to 11.3% of total entries this way. It was followed by France, with 8.6% of the total closer to 1.8 rating, up 12.6% from a year ago.
