US investigates Deutsche Bank for possible laundering of Russian customers – Ambito.com

The US Justice Department opened an investigation into bank Germany’s Deutsche Bank AG by participating in alleged money laundering of billions of dollars of Russian clients, the financial portal Bloomberg reported.

By known as “mirror operations “customers could move large amounts of money through the sale of rubles and dollars between Moscow and London, without notifying the regulatory authorities.

These transactions could exceed 6,000 million and would have occurred between 2011 and 2015, According to the portal, citing sources familiar with the investigation.

On July 30 The German bank acknowledged in its annual report that it had initiated an internal investigation on a “significant amount” of suspicious transactions in Russia and the UK and had taken disciplinary action against several people, without giving further details.

This is not the first time that Deutsche Bank has to deal with an investigation by US authorities after another recently for his involvement in the manipulation of interest rates LIBOR and operations . in the sale of high-risk financial assets backed by mortgages
