Berlin, Feb 23 (EFE) .- The German estimates made in 2015 a surplus of 19,400 million euros or 0.6 percent of GDP, with that, in absolute terms is the largest since the country’s reunification in 1990 sealed.

This was announced today the Federal Statistical Office corrected slightly upward a first estimate was made in January based on provisional figures.

in relation to GDP, there had been a higher, 0.9 of GDP surplus in 2000, but in absolute terms this year was below 2015 to 18,200 million euros.

in addition, the surplus in 2000 was due to the special effect of the auction of mobile phone licenses that provided extra income to the state.

the surplus calculations include the state budget as well like those of the 16 federal states and other public authorities.

as a result, Germany fulfills grow Maastricht treaty criterion which requires that the government deficit can not be above 3.0 percent of GDP.

the last time Germany did not meet that criterion was in 2010 when the deficit was 4.2 percent of GDP.

in the last quarter of 2015, the German economy grew by 0.3 percent over the previous quarter.

throughout 2015 growth was 1.7 percent after 1.6 percent was recorded in 2014.
