The Italian oil company Eni recorded in 2015 “red numbers” of 8,821 million euros, compared to a profit net attributable profit of 1,291 million euros earned the previous year as a result of falling oil prices.
the turnover of the transalpine group throughout the year decreased by 27% to 67,740 million euros, compared with 93,187 million euros in 2014, as reported by the company in a statement.
in 2015, Eni recorded an operating loss of 2,774 million euros, compared with operating profit of 7,585 million euros the previous year.
in the last quarter, the oil almost quintupled its net loss, to 6,891 million euros, while sales fell 6% to 13,889 million euros.
the CEO of Eni, Claudio Descalzi, announced that the board of directors will propose the distribution of a dividend of 0.40 euros per share.
Descalzi has positively assessed these results, framed in a “process of transformation” of the company, with the aim of “focus even more on its business of oil and gas and even better organized to compete in a business low oil prices”.
