TOKYO (Reuters) – Toyota Motor Corp said on Wednesday it is recalling about 5.8 million vehicles in Japan and other parts of the world by possible failures in the inflators of the airbags manufactured by Takata Corp., including some that already were replaced after a control in 2010.

The last call review of Toyota includes the flagship model Corolla, one of the most sold in the world, and the Vitz or Yaris. It involves the air bag of the driver-side and front-passenger seat installed in automobiles, produced between may 2000 and November 2001, and April of 2006 and December of 2014, the company said in an e-mail.
The revision affects 1.16 million vehicles sold in Japan, approximately 820.000 cars sold in China and close to 1.47 million units sold in Europe. Extends to central and South America, Africa, Middle East and Singapore, and also engages the pickup Hilux and the line Etios.
The measure shows the complexity of the so-called withdrawal linked with the inflators, which began around 2008 and continues to expand.
