More than 140 thousand French demanded in a letter to the Court of Justice of the Republic (CRJ) is a true judgment against the director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Christine Lagarde, who was acquitted for his “international prestige” even though he was found guilty of negligence when he was Finance minister Nicolas Sarkozy.
The petition was delivered to French president François Hollande and to the authorities of the National Assembly and the Senate. In the letter demand that Lagarde “should answer for their acts before a tribunal correctionnel ordinary and to take the consequences”.
In 2008, Lagarde was awarded a multi-million dollar compensation to businessman Bernard Tapie, owner of Adidas, a company that was expropriated and then sold by the bank Crédit Lyonnais, on behalf of the French State.
Despite convicting her, the court concluded that the “international reputation” of the director of the IMF and the fact that at the time of the facts of which he is accused was facing an “international financial crisis” justifies that it is exempt from punishment.
The verdict was issued by three judges and 12 members of parliament who constitute the Court of Justice of the Republic, court in charge of judging those ministers who committed crimes during their terms.
