Two great companies will gather to celebrate 40 years of the Golf GTI: Volkswagen and the well-known brand of luxury watches, TAG Heuer, wanted to develop a limited edition, unique to Chile, to recognize the importance that this model has had in the history of the brand and of the world.
And who better to create an anniversary edition of the Volkswagen Golf GTI that these two, considering, furthermore, that TAG Heuer is a brand that since the seventies has been linked to the world of the highly competitive automotive and whose passion is in the accuracy and power.
as with these two companies, which have marked the various milestones over time, it is impossible to detach the Volkswagen Golf GTI of the history of the world automotive, knowing that this model became a landmark that marked the start of a new design, new technology, new engines and a proposal that, even created a new segment between the models of the time.
“The affection that exists in the world towards the game of Golf is something that impresses: since 1976 when he came out of the line of production of the first Mk1, it became an object of desire for thousands of young people seeking a proposal modern, dynamic, different and powerful. And here we are, 40 years later, celebrating a big, big,” commented Mario Valdovinos, manager of Volkswagen Chile.
And it is for this reason that, by joining the global celebrations, Chile also wanted to be part of this important moment and to make a gift to all lovers of this model, by launching the anniversary edition of “Volkswagen Golf GTI 40 years TAG Heuer”. With only five units available, the brand wants fans to continue to be a part of the history of the model.
This limited edition comes with a bet more aggressively, and sports: on the outside it looks like a bumper more wide and robust; rear diffuser that accentuates the curves of the back; side skirts that give it a feeling more sport; spoiler and four-pipe exhaust chromed, plus wheels 19″ logos and TAG Heuer. In its interior, meanwhile, offers a sound system, an audio system “Fender Sound®” in addition to the logo TAG Heuer mending on the gear lever.
To do this, it adds a new equipment that includes App Connect, Camera to the back, Park Assist, Light Assist, Detector fatigue and side Mirrors, reverse tilt electrical. All this equipment adds to the already known attributes of the Golf GTI as its powerful engine 2.0-liter TSI delivering 220 Hp and a maximum torque of 350 Nm between 1,500 – 4.400, all powered with a box of DSG 6 and a high equipment of infotainment, technology and security.
But more prominent still, is that this special edition of 40 years includes a clock TAG Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph Quartz, with the chassis number of the car engraved on the back, personalized. “TAG Heuer is a brand recognized for its products and presence in the high-competition, supporting in addition to athletes and brands very prominent in various disciplines. Our partnership with Volkswagen Motorsport and the desire to be part of a historic moment, led us to be a part of this project to celebrate 40 years of this iconic model as is the Golf GTI. And we wanted this special edition so much more, including a clock with the same trajectory, reliability, strength, sportiness and elegance,” said Thomas Müller, the official representative of TAG Heuer in Chile.
Since his arrival to Chile in the early 90s, the Golf GTI caló strongly in all lovers of fair play, becoming an icon of the era. Almost 20 years later, this model continues to demonstrate its leadership: in these last two years have been sold more than 100 units per year, representing 13% of the total sales of the range Golf.
And thought that this edition Volkswagen Golf GTI 40 years TAG Heuer is soon on the streets, is that the model is launched at a price of $ 24.490.000.
