Another fine Repsol: US $ 9.1 million for disobeying … – LaRepública.com.co

Just three weeks after the super regulator imposed a fine of 20 million euros to Repsol, the oil now receives a new sanction for another $ 9.1 million more. The National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC) has again sanctioned for breaching Repsol now a decision issued by the Competition Authority in 2009, which is considered a very serious offense.

Six years ago the authority competition sanctioned Repsol, Cepsa and BP indirectly fix the selling price to the public in the independent gas stations operating under its flag, thereby restricting competition between service stations in its network and among the other stations.

After that resolution, Repsol had to adapt contracts with certain service stations network to avoid that forbidden pricing. Oil chaired by Antonio Brufau has been arguing that the Hydrocarbons Law of 2013 exempted him from compliance with the ruling. The CNMC has rejected that argument and impose the appropriate penalty for ignoring its resolution.

The CNMC has done several performances since 2010 to monitor compliance and sanction them detected that Repsol has not complied with resolution 2009 in relation to the exclusive supply contracts signed by Repsol independent third party operators. The regulator has already imposed by the same token fines of US $ 2.6 million to 786,000 euros Cepsa and BP.

The new sanction Repsol comes just three weeks after imposing a fine of US $ 33 5 million to Repsol, Cepsa, Disa, Galp and Meroil by agreeing prices and exchange information on the fuel market. Repsol and Cepsa concentrated by far the bulk of the penalty, a fine of US $ 20.9 million for the first and $ 10.4 million for the other company. Meanwhile, Disa will have to pay US $ 1.3 million, Galp US $ 839,000 and US $ 314,000 Meroil.
