The members of the General Society of Authors and Editors (SGAE) approved on Thursday the management and the accounts for the financial years 2013 and 2014, which have suffered a “slight improvement” in the last year through advertising and decreased delinquency, according to the president of the organization, José Luis Acosta.
SGAE dished up 4% copyright among its members. Specifically, in 2014 EUR 254.1 million was partitioned against the 243.6 million that were distributed last year.
The president of the SGAE stressed that “has not been an easy year” due the “controversial reform of intellectual property law” has been a “waste of effort to try to change those aspects desprotegía our partners.”
Still, social proceeds in 2014 have had a “slight improvement” thanks to increased advertising in the media, lower delinquency of Public Administrations and the implementation of Plan payments, explained the president of the SGAE.
But, according to Acosta, do not forget the “burden of the debts” by the “outdated” real estate project artery, the increase in VAT on cultural products and services and the economic crisis that “both” has affected consumption and close of business content users.
REVIEW AND VOTING FINANCIAL
At the Annual General Meeting to be held on Thursday, in addition to territorial pre-assemblies they had place last week in several regions, the partners have discussed and voted on the annual accounts and application of results of 2013 and 2014 as well as the Management Report and Corporate Social Responsibility for the year 2014. It also discussed the Activities Report SGAE Foundation.
The accounts for 2013 have been approved by 67.46% of the votes, while against it registered a 29.71%. Abstentions were only 2.84% of the vote. The 2014 accounts were approved by 68.98% of voters were against 28.65% and 2.37% abstentions.
The management report and corporate social responsibility 2014 also has been adopted by almost half of voters (one 49,49%). This document has opposed the 42.72% of the shareholders and 7.80% abstained.
BALANCE OF RESULTS OF 2014
The 2014 income statement shows the entity manages more than 70% of property rights generated by Spain. Have been recorded in the SGAE over 700,000 new musical, audiovisual and stage works, which is the sum of 10.1 million registered works.
According to these data, the SGAE represents more than 80 million works by authors from around the world, because in 2014 the company had 282 authors representation contracts with 153 companies covering 219 territories.
The SGAE entered in 2014 a total of 248.424 million euros virtually the same as in the year 2013. The drama generated 11.6 million euros, –realizada public communication through live concerts, cinemas or image and sound equipment housed in establecimientos– they collected 58, 7 million euros and social income earned by record media, video and music synchronization –fijación audiovisuales– works have been 8.9 million euros.

Only the cable and broadcasting revenues have decreased compared to 2013. These have generated 112.7 million of euros, 5.4% less than in 2013. According to the SGAE this decline is explained by the lack of advertising investment.
