Spain reported its best growth rate since 2008 – El Nuevo Herald

Spain’s economy is growing at its fastest pace since the economic crisis began in 2008, said Wednesday Economy Minister Luis de Guindos.

The official explained that the Spanish economy grew at a rate close to 4% in the first half of the year compared with the same period in 2014. This is half a percentage point higher than the initial forecast.

De Guindos said the second quarter should exceed the rate of 0 , 9% quarterly recorded in the first three months of the year.

Spain was severely hit by the global financial crisis and was until late 2013 that began to emerge from a double dip. The economy is now one of the fastest growing in Europe.

The ruling Popular Party expected to halt its recovery rates fall in popularity in this election year.
