Adidas acquired to Runtastic – Brownsville Herald

MEXICO CITY .- The five-Aug sports firm Adidas paid 220 million euros for Runtastic, a company dedicated to developing applications Phones for health monitoring.

“Runtastic will remain a separate entity within the Adidas Group and continue to operate from our offices in Austria, Vienna and San Francisco. We will continue offering new enhancements, unique content and a new application for the long-awaited end of the year, “said Florian Gschwandtner, founder and CEO of Runtastic, through the company blog.

Founded in 2009 and Austrian origin, Runtastic recorded more than 140 million download and about 70 million registered users to operate five years.

Runtastic began as an app for runners recorded route, distance, speed and pace of their training and racing. It currently offers at least 30 mobile applications focused on the health and physical activity, including records for runners and cyclists, step counters and monitoring of sleep.

The acquisition by Adidas Runtastic It is the second this year involving a sports firm and a technology company. Last February, Under Armour paid $ 475 million for MyFitnessPal
