Germany recorded millionaire surplus – Deutsche Welle

The Federal Statistics Office, based in the city of Wiesbaden, gave this Wednesday (24.08.2016) the good news. In the first half of 2016, the Federal State (Bund), the states (Länder), municipalities and social security funds raised 18.500 million euros more than they spent. The amount of the surplus equivalent to 1.2 percent of gross domestic product.

So far this year, the German state has benefited from low interest rates and good situation. The official indicators confirmed that growth in the German economy remains robust, albeit with a fall between the first two quarters of 2016.

In the second quarter, GDP growth was 0, 4 percent, when in the first three months was 0.7 percent, provided a year earlier. It will tell if Germany gets back to score a surplus at the end of 2016 and achieve for the third time a general budget with a zero deficit.
