Huawei, OPPO and VIVO among the top 5 manufacturers of smartphones in the world – People in line

Beijing, 08/02/2017 (The People Online) -shipments annually of the manufacturers of smart phones chinese Huawei, OPPO and VIVO were the three companies among the top five manufacturers of smartphones in the world last year, according to the latest data published by the firm of market intelligence IDC.

The world’s shipments of smart phones reached 1.47 million units in 2016, 2.3% more than last year, said IDC.

The data show that Samsung ranked first, followed by Apple. Even so, shipments of the two major tech giants declined respectively by 3% and 7%, which demonstrates a decrease of the quota of global market.

however, in 2016 there was an increase in the manufacturers of chinese mobile phones. Shipments of Huawei increased by 30.2% year-on-year until the 139,3 million units, and the company maintained its third position globally. In addition, the last quarter of 2016 was the first time that Huawei has reached a global market share of two digits. The other two manufacturers, OPPO and VIVO, both of which achieved a growth of over 100%, by sending to 99.4 million and 77,3 million units, respectively, in 2016.

The statistics of another market research firm, Counterpoint, indicate that China sent 465 million smart phones in the last year, representing almost a third of the global volume.

IDC believes that the increase in the income of the chinese has resulted in an increased consumption, which contributed to the rapid growth of the smartphone market of national brands. Chinese customers now consider that mobile phones are an essential tool to meet their daily needs, according to IDC. They also see it as a symbol of your taste, instead of just a piece of cost-effective hardware.
