January 7, 2015, 12:48 pm Brussels, Jan 7 (PL) Unemployment in the eurozone remained stable in November for the fourth consecutive month at 11.5 percent, according to data provided today by the statistical office of the European Union, Eurostat.
The report again draws Spain as the second-worst figures from across the region to register a 23.9 percent unemployment only advance by Greece with 25.7 percent.
In the whole European Union ( EU) the unemployment rate dropped one tenth in November from the previous month and stood at 10 percent, seven tenths below the figure for November 2013.
Eurostat estimates that 24.423 million people lacked November employment in the EU, of which 18,394,000 were located in the euro area (excluding Lithuania, last member of the block), which meant a monthly increase of 34,000 unemployed among the countries of the euro and 19,000 unemployed in the whole of the EU.
Among the member nations with available data, the lowest rates were recorded in Austria (4.9 percent), Germany (5), Malta and the Czech Republic (5.8 both ), while the highest were those of Greece (25.7 in September) and Spain (23.9).
Compared with November 2013, unemployment fell in 22 countries, increased by four and remained stable in Belgium and Slovenia.
The highest annual decreases were recorded in Greece, Hungary and Spain, while older incrmentos were observed in Italy and Finland.
