The number of unemployed in Spain fell by 477,900 people in 2014 to reach 5,457,700 and the unemployment rate stood at 23.7% of the workforce, one point below government forecasts.

According to the Labour Force Survey (EPA) published Thursday by the National Statistics Institute (INE), in the last twelve months employment grew by 433,900 people, 2.53%.

However, in the fourth quarter, the number of unemployed rose by 30,100 persons compared to the previous quarter, 0.55%.
